Develop low-cost hydrophobic tails for price parity with fatty acids and novel furan-tail coupling strategies, using techno-economic analysis to assess cost of a range of tail options linked to surfactant performance.

Develop sulfur tolerance relationships for dopant platinum-group metal support interfaces based on first principles and demonstrate the value of atomic layer deposition catalyst durability when upgrading biologically derived muconic acid with prolonged time-on-stream.
