The presentations below were reviewed by industry, academia, and federal agencies as part of the biannual BETO Peer Review process. ChemCatBio began participating in this review process in 2017, one year after the consortium was formed.
Catalyst Deactivation Mitigation for Biomass Conversion
Provide fundamental insight and actionable recommendations for extending catalyst lifetime in biomass catalytic conversion by a collective and collaborative effort within ChemCatBio.
Consortium for Computational Physics and Chemistry
Develop and apply a fundamental science-based computational toolset that enables and accelerates discovery and optimization of cost-effective catalyst materials for bioenergy applications, translation of catalyst discoveries by ChemCatBio to higher technical readiness levels, and cost-effective scale-up of bioenergy catalytic conversion technologies relevant to industry.
Advanced Catalyst Synthesis and Characterization
Provide fundamental insight leading to actionable recommendations for critical catalysis challenges by leveraging world-class synthesis and characterization capabilities across multiple U.S. Department of Energy national laboratories.
The ChemCatBio Data Hub project uses data to accelerate catalyst research. Its current focus is on the development of the Catalyst Property Database (CPD), which was released to the public in 2020 and will open to community uploads in fall 2021. The CPD addresses the problem of previously computed catalyst data being difficult to find and use, often requiring slow and tedious searching.
Catalyst Cost Model Development (CatCost)
Develop a modular and flexible tool for accurately estimating the cost of pre-commercial catalyst manufacture to be distributed to the public free-of-charge as a web-based interface together with a downloadable spreadsheet-based model.
